David Connor (born Manchester, 1945) was an English football defender who played for Manchester City between 1964 and 1971 making 141 appearances and scoring 10 goals.
Signed for Preston North End during the 1971/72 season, making 32 appearances (1 as sub) before moving to Macclesfield Town in 1973.
Dave played many times for City having a superb left foot but his most notable game was in the FA Cup Semi-final against Everton in 1969 where he was employed to man-mark the great Alan Ball. Dave was so successful in City's 1-0 victory that Alan Ball visibly beat the ground with his fists in frustration at yet again having the football taken from his toes. Everton later signed Dave as a player, one can construe just to remove him from the opposition as Dave disappeared into obscurity.
